So What’s An NDE Anyways?

Near Death Experiences are associated with dying or the impending sense of death, usually attributed to a life-threating event, whose characteristics are similar.

Some experiences include a sensation of detachment from your body, feelings of levitation, serenity, warmth, the feeling of dissolution, and the awareness of a bright light. In a few instances this experience may consist of feelings of sorrow, distress, and an intense sense of anguish.

There are countless explanations of NDE by religious and scientific persons alike. Some neuropsychologists and neuroscientists have hypothesized that the sensations associated with these NDE’s are consistent with the results of “disturbed bodily multisensory integration” which can occur when someone sustains a massive brain or head trauma.

While some religious and spiritual transcendentalists believe it is a glimpse into the afterlife and proof in life beyond our physical world. Regardless of what you personally believe, an estimated 5% of the world population have undergone a near-death experience.
